Busan Global City Foundation inauguration 

- Busan Foundation for International Cooperation and Busan English Broadcasting have become one-

부산광역시 글로벌 도시재단 출범 

- 부산국제교류재단과 부산영어방송재단, 하나가 되다-

 On July 1 Busan Foundation for International Cooperation and Busan English Broadcasting became an integrated foundation by the Busan Metropolitan City’s policy to streamline public institutions.

 The official name of the new integrated foundation is ‘Busan Metropolitan City Global City Foundation (abbreviated as Busan Global City Foundation)’. The first CEO is Hwang Ki-Sik, secretary-general of the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation, who took office on March 20th. Hwang Ki-Sik is an international exchange expert who earned a doctorate in international politics from University of London and was appointed as a professor at Dong-A University’s Graduate School of International Studies in 2008. 

 In addition, over the past five years, he has been in Busan MBC’s and has played a major role in expanding the international perspective of Busan citizens by hosting , a current affairs corner that analyzes international trends every week.

 지난 7월 1일, 부산시의 공공기관 효율화 방침에 따라 부산국제교류재단과 부산영어방송재단이 하나의 통합재단이 되었다. 새 통합재단의 공식 명칭은 ‘재단법인 부산광역시 글로벌 도시재단(약칭, 부산글로벌도시재단)’이다. 

 초대 대표이사는 지난 3월 20일부로 취임한 황기식 부산국제교류재단 사무총장이 맡았다. 황기식 대표이사는 런던대학교 국제정치학 박사학위를 취득하고, 2008년 동아대학교 국제전문대학원의 교수로 임용된 후 지방정부 국제교류협력 사업 및 정책발굴 등 지방외교 관련 정책에 왕성하게 활동했던 국제교류 전문가이다. 

 또한 지난 5년 간 부산MBC <자갈치 아지매>에 출연하여 매주 국제동향을 분석하는 시사 코너인 <황기식의 국제시장>을 진행하며, 부산 시민들의 국제적인 시야를 넓히는 데 큰 역할을 한 바 있다.

Meanwhile, Busan Global City Foundation, which held Busan Global City Forum on July 6 under the theme of “New Paradigm of Local Diplomacy,” is expected to play a pivotal role in making Busan as a global hub city, and an English-friendly city.

 한편, 새로운 통합재단의 출범에 맞추어 지난 7월 6일, ‘지방외교의 새로운 패러다임’을 주제로 ‘부산 글로벌 도시포럼’을 개최한 부산글로벌도시재단은 향후 부산을 대표하는 도시외교 전문기관으로서 글로벌 허브 도시 부산 조성 및 영어하기 편한도시 조성에 중추적인 역할을 수행할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
