Travelling isn’t cheap but here’s a sure fire way to save you money. You don’t have to go all over the world to experience the wonderful dishes that are on offer, you can try them all right here in Busan.

 Before this guide continues, let’s make it clear that this is not a definitive guide. We at Busan Beat can’t speak for everybody’s tastes, and we’re sure that we’ve missed some things. So please, simply use this as an introduction to the fact that Busan has myriad regional cuisines to try. And for the places that we’ve missed: Be sure to pass them on and encourage those around you to try new food as often as possible!

 여행에는 상당한 돈이 든다. 하지만 여기 돈을 아낄 확실 한 방법이 있다. 전세계 음식을 전부 경험해보기 위해 세계 여행을 하지 않아도 그 모든 것을 가능케 하는 곳, 그곳이 바로 부산이다.  

 이 가이드는 주관적인 기준으로 작성된 것으로, 완벽하지 는 않다는 걸 확실히 해 두고자 한다. Busan Beat가 모두의 입맛을 대변할 수는 없으니 분명 무언가 부족한 점이 있을 것이다. 그러니 이 글은 부산에 맛볼 만한 지역 음식이 무수히 많다는 사실을 알리는 입문서로만 여기길 바란다. 여기 언급되지 않은 맛있는 레스토랑들이 있다면, 주변인 들이 새로운 음식을 가능한 한 많이 맛볼 수 있도록 전파하고 독려할 것!

 Let’s begin with the huge Vietnamese community that lives in Korea. Gimhae is renowned for the Southeast Asian options that are on offer, but you don’t have to go that far. You can simply get on Line No. 2 and stop by Deokpo to try some wonderfully authentic Vietnamese food. Sasang and the surrounding area have a great offering of Vietnamese restaurants to try. One of our favourites is YenNhi; remember to ask for coriander/ cilantro on the side!  

 먼저 한국 내 거대한 베트남 커뮤니티부터 시작하자. 김해는 동남아시아를 경 험할 수 있는 장소로 잘 알려져 있지만 이 경험을 위해 그리 멀리 갈 필요는 없 다. 그저 2호선에 몸을 싣고 덕포 역에 내리면 환상적인 진짜 베트남 음식을 맛 볼 수 있기 때문이다. 사상과 그 주변 지역에는 방문해 볼만한 좋은 베트남 식당 이 많다. 그 중 내가 가장 좋아하는 맛집은 이엔니 YenNhi다. 고수를 달라고 요청해야 한다는 걸 기억하자!

 Next on the tour is Seomyeon. While this area is known for shopping and clubs, it’s a great place to experience wonderful flavour combinations. Whether you want to experience the spice of SiChuan at La La Gwan, or be transported to Italy at Osteria Aboo, you have the world at your feet in Seomyeon. In fact the team at Osteria support our claims that you are saving money on the plane fare by visiting their restaurant.

 다음 목적지는 서면이다. 서면은 쇼핑과 클럽으로 유명하 지만 훌륭한 미각의 조화를 경험하기에도 완벽한 곳이다. 라라관 La La Gwan에서 쓰촨성 음식을 맛보든 오스테리아 어부 Osteria Aboo에서 이탈리아를 경험하든, 그 맛의 향연은 바로 이곳 서면에서 펼쳐진다. 실제로 오스테리아 어부에 방문해보면 비행기 값을 아껴 이곳에 오는 게 옳다 는 걸 알 수 있을 것이다.

 A short saunter away in Jeonpo you are greeted by new restaurants opening so regularly that it’s impossible to keep up to speed. You can try almost anything in Jeonpo; not just coffee! Two of our picks are Ruanmmit Thai, for a fantastic meal cooked by professional Thai chefs, and have round two and a cocktail at El Chincano.

 잠깐 느긋한 산책을 즐기며 전포 역에 다다르면 새로 문 을 연 식당들이 즐비한 덕에 걸음을 빨리 할 수 없을 것이 다. 전포동에는 커피뿐 아니라 거의 없는 게 없다. 그 중 두 곳을 고르자면 전문 태국 셰프가 운영하는 환상적인 식당 루암밋타이 Ruanmmit Thai와 칵테일과 함께 2차를 즐길 수 있는 엘치카노 El Chincano다.

 At the mention of cocktails it would be remiss to not mention a night out in Haeundae. Everything from the beach and authentic Korean markets, to craft beer and upscale hotels is available in Haeundae. However, as this tour draws to a close we thought it best to recommend a true cocktail bar, and Attic is the place for a real cocktail. Following all this, if you have had too much to drink, a nice brunch might be in order. The neighbourhood behind Haeundae subway station has exploded in the last two years with new and inspiring places popping up every week. It’s worth trying a Melbourne inspired brunch at Prahran; anyone who has been to Melbourne will know the name of the famous Melbourne Prahran markets that acts as the chef’s muse.

 칵테일 이야기가 나왔으니 해운대를 빠뜨리면 서운한 일 이다. 해변과 한국 전통 시장, 생맥주부터 럭셔리 호텔까지 해운대에는 모든 게 다 있다. 하지만 이 여정은 진정한 칵 테일을 맛볼 수 있는 아틱 Attic으로 마무리하는 게 제격일 것이다. 이 여정을 따르느라 술을 너무 많이 마셨다면 맛있 는 브런치가 기다리고 있다. 해운대 지하철역 뒤편 가까운 곳은 지난 2년 간 매주 새롭고도 놀라운 가게가 생겨났다. 멜버른을 연상케 하는 프라한 Prahran에서 브런치를 맛보 면 어떨까. 멜버른에 가본 적 있는 사람이라면 누구나 셰프 들의 뮤즈로 불리는 멜버른 프라한 마켓을 알 것이다

 This is just the tip of the eating iceberg! Remember that China town near Busan station is full of not just Chinese, but also other Central Asian delights, there are authentic Japanese restaurants all over the city, there are pizza restaurants inspired by various pizza styles, the burger selection is unbelievable, and, and… and… Just go and try it all!

 여기 소개된 곳들은 빙산의 일각에 불과하다. 부산역 근 처 차이나 타운에도 중국뿐 아니라 중앙아시아의 맛을 즐 길 수 있고, 부산 전역에 진짜 일식을 경험할 수 있는 일본 식당들도 있다. 다양한 피자 스타일을 선보이는 피자점과 놀라움의 연속을 경험하는 버거 식당도 있다. 이게 전부가 아니다. 그러니 반드시 가서 맛보도록 하자!
