Tucked away behind BEXCO and Centum City lies the Busan Museum of Art. Dedicated to promoting the aesthetic needs of the greater Busan Area, the Busan Museum of Art features a variety of art and cultural activities throughout the year. Located at the BEXCO stop on subway line 2, the Busan Museum of art is a great way to spend an afternoon.

  부산시립미술관은 벡스코와 센텀시티 너머에 숨겨진 부산의 대표적인 아트 스페이스이다. 부산 시민들의 문화예술 욕구를 충족시키기 위해 부산시립미술관은 연중 다양한 전시들을 선보인다. 부산 지하철 2호선 벡스코역에 위치한 부산시립미술관은 무더운 여름 오후를 보내기에 더할 나위없이 좋은 장소이다.

김종식展

  The museum has four exhibitions currently ongoing. (Please note: the article is written at the end of July.) The art of Kim Jongsik is being displayed until August 12 in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth. Located on the third floor of the main building, this retrospective shows the development of Kim Jong-sik through his forty-year career as an artist. Featuring over 200 works, the collections shows the characteristics that differentiated his works from others and helped shape the local art scene in Busan. In addition to showing local scenes of Busan, the exhibit also features paintings of Gyeongnam made in the 1970s.

  Another exhibition, The Collect and Assemble, Memory Theatre, features the works of Lee Miju, Lim Hyunjeong, and Cheong Jinkyung. Running through August 26th, the exhibit is on display in the Children’s museum in the basement floors of the museum. Described as a theatre of mind, the show presents flat works, installations, and film works to help viewers reconstruct phenomena in a variety of ways. The three artists provide memory theaters to examine memories and question how we construct our daily experience.

  현재 미술관에서는 네 가지 전시를 관람할 수 있다. (해당 기사는 7월 말을 기준으로 작성되었다.) 탄생 100주념을 기념하는 <김종식>展이 8월 12일까지 열린다. 본관 3층에 전시 중인 이 회고전은 김종식 작가의 40년간의 발자취를 돌아본다. 200점이 넘는 작품들은 김종식 작가만의 특징을 고스란히 드러내며 부산의 지역 예술을 소개한다. 뿐만 아니라 1970년대의 경남 지역의 작품들도 볼 수 있다.

  또 다른 전시회는 이미주, 정진경, 임현정 작가의 <모아서 조립하기_기억극장>이다. 8월 26일까지 열리는 이 전시는 미술관 지하에 위치한 어린이미술관에서 관람할 수 있다. 회화, 설치, 영상 작품들을 통해 관람객들이 다양한 방법으로 현상을 재구축할 수 있도록 돕는 작품들이 꽤 재미있다. 세 작가는 인지하는 과정에 대해 우리가 어떻게 매일매일의 경험들을 구축하는지에 대한 질문을 던진다.

교육 프로그램

  The museum was completed in 1998 and boasts over 21,000 square meters. Comprised of two buildings, the Busan Museum of Art displays pieces that contribute to raising the awareness of art, providing a space for art activities, and providing a space for the development and creation of art for Busan citizens. The main building includes exhibition halls, a children’s museum, educational research rooms, and an open-air sculpture park. In 2015, the Lee Ufan annex was opened as a permanent exhibit

of the artist’s work.

  The Busan Museum of Art’s permanent collection boasts over two thousand works. Notable among the pieces are works by modern and contemporary Busan artists. These include the works of Yang Dalsuk, Woo Shin-chool, and many others. The museum specializes in formative artworks and installation pieces of major artists active in Busan. Other collections include contemporary Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese art and donations by the Korean entrepreneur Ha Jung-woong.

  Exhibitions are continually changing. About every three months brings about a new exhibit and all new artworks to see. Previous exhibitions include Yinka Shonibare Mbe, a special African exhibition, the 100th Anniversary of Yoo Youngkuk, and many others.

  The Busan Museum of art is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am until 6 pm. On Saturday and the last Wednesday of the month the hours are 10 am until 9 pm. Admission is free to the main building. Space Lee Ufan is 2,000 KRW for Busan citizens and 1,000 KRW for children. Special docent tours are available at various times.   1998년 완공된 부산시립미술관은 21,000제곱미터에 달하는 너비를 자랑한다. 두 동의 건물로 구성되어 있으며, 예술에 대한 인식을 높이고 예술 활동 및 부산 시민들의 창작을 돕는다. 본관에는 전시실, 어린이 미술관, 교육 목적을 위한 열람실이 있고 바깥에는 개방된 조각공원이 있다. 2015년에는 이우환 공간이 문을 열었다.

  부산시립미술관은 2,000 점이 넘는 소장품들을 보유하고 있다. 특히 부산 작가들의 작품들이 주목할 만하다. 양달석, 우신출을 비롯한 많은 유명 작가들의 작품들이 있으며, 부산에서 활발하게 활동 중인 주요 작가들의 조각과 설치 작품도 소장 중이다. 조각과 설치 작품도 있고, 중국, 일본, 베트남 등 주변국의 현대미술 작품들과 하정웅컬렉션도 있다.

  부산시립미술관은 약 3개월마다 새로운 전시를 기획한다. 최근에는 <아프리카 특별전 : 잉카 쇼니바레 MBE>, 유영국 <절대와 자유>展 등의 전시회를 개최하였다.
