Busan Metropolitan City held ‘2021 UN Weeks in Busan’ from October 22 to November 11, with various events such as the World Peace Forum, photo exhibition, memorial ceremony, and walkathon. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of joining the UN and the 70th anniversary of the UN Memorial Park, the UN Weeks in Busan held pre- events like UN supporters and Remembrance Roll Call, commemoration events like the 76th UN Day Commemoration ceremony, World Peace Forum, ‘Remember Heroes in Busan’ photo exhibition, memorial events like ’Turn Toward Busan’, which is an international memorial event for the UN veterans, and a World Peace Walkathon.

 부산시는 10월 22일부터 11월 11일까지 ‘2021 부산 유엔위크’를 개최하고 세계평화포럼, 사진전, 추모식, 걷기 대회 등 다양한 행사를 진행하였다. 유엔 가입 30주년과 유엔 기념공원 조성 70주년을 맞는 올해 부산유엔위크에서는 유엔 서포터즈 운영, 리멤 버 롤콜 등 사전 행사, 제76회 유엔의 날 기념식, 세계 평화포럼, ‘리멤버 히어로즈 인 부산’ 사진전 등 감사주간 행사, 유엔참전용사 국제추모식인 ‘턴 투워드 부산 (Turn Toward Busan)’, 세계평화 걷기 대회 등 추모주간 행사 등이 열렸다.

‘The Light of Peace’, to be held on November 24, illuminates the light of peace on the Diamond Bridge, Busan Port Bridge, and Busan Tower. The sister cities such as Auckland, and major symbols in Chuncheon and Gunpo, are to be lit up as well to join the commemoration. ‘The World Peace Forum’, a major event in the UN Weeks in Busan, was held under the theme ‘Sustainable Cities and Response to Climate Change’ on October 27th at the Grand Ballroom on the first floor of the Westin Chosun Hotel. There was a keynote speech by former UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, a roundtable conference by former UN Ambassador Kim Sook and diplomats in Korea, a UN Youth Model Conference in Busan, and a carbon-neutral strategy session for a low- carbon green Busan were also held at the same time.

11월 24일 열리는 ‘평화의 빛 점등 행사’는 광안대교, 부산항 대교, 부산타워에 평화의 빛을 밝힌다. 오클랜드 등 자매도시와 춘천시, 군포시의 주요 상징물에도 빛을 점등해 추모 분위기를 더한다. 부산유엔위크의 주요 행사인 ‘세계평화포럼’은 ‘지속 가능한 도시와 기후변화 대응’을 주제로 웨스틴 조선호텔 1층 그랜드볼룸에서 10월 27일 개최되었다. 반기문 전 유엔사무총장 기조연설, 김숙 전 유엔대사와 주한 외교관들이 참여하는 원탁회의, 부산유엔청년모의총회, 저탄소 그린도시 부산 구현을 위한 탄소중립 실천 전략 세션 등이 동시에 진행되었다.

An international memorial event for UN veterans, ‘Turn Toward Busan’, will be held at the UN Memorial Park on December 11. It is an event to commemorate the noble sacrifices of the UN veterans who fought in the Korean War and defended the liberal democracy in Korea. In addition, ‘the World Peace Walk’, to commemorate the UN veterans, will be held on December 11th in the UN special zone in Nam-gu. The Nam-gu Office will carry on with publishing a special UN paper, and offering a Busan En Nam-gu unique tour. A ‘Turn Toward Busan’ Pepero gift package delivery service will also be offered. 12월 11일에는 ‘유엔참전용사 국제추모식(Turn Toward Busan)’이 유엔기념공원에서 개최된다. 한국 전쟁에 참전해 대한민국의 자유민주주의를 수호한 유엔 참전용사의 숭고한 희생을 기억하기 위해 마련하는 행사이다. 또 남구 유엔특구에서 유엔 참전용사를 추모하기 위한 ‘세계평화걷기대회’도 12월 11일까지 열린다. 남구청은 부산유엔위크와 연계해 UN특별판 신문발 간, 부산엔남구 이색투어, ‘턴 투워드 부산’ 연계 빼빼로 선물패키지 전달 행사 등도 함께 진행한다. 세계평화포럼을 포함한 2021 부산유엔위크 행사 일정은 부산유엔위크 공식 홈페이지를 참조하면 된다.
